What do you do with the cards and letters you receive? Do you keep them all, just keep the photos, throw them away?
Inspired by jacolily.
Taking after Crapartist's idolization of the design in various snail mail and packages, I've begun to preciously photo-document the various goodies I've received in the mail. Crapartist's letter was the first in this series when he sent me a lovely set of his pixel magazines all piled up in a beautiful air mail envelope.
Due to the holiday season and the mighty generosity of some friends I've had quite the influx of packages as of late. Check out my postal service photo gallery on my Flickr or Atreeyu for some musings on the stuffs receive, and if anyone wants a snail mail pen pal let me know (though I have to be sure to send out Crapartist's gift before starting anything else :P).
What's the best gift you received this year?
Runners up: See-Thru mini-Kaiju (from Hamza), Interstella 5555 Figurines (from Chico), Pushpaw and Pupshaw (from ee.en). and The Double Life of Veronique (from Cristian).
Were your holiday cards store bought, handmade, online, TBD or MIA?
For almost 6 years (I think?) I've been drawing and rendering my holiday card to meet my annual 'Slutty Holiday Anime Girl' milestone. Typically I sketch out the character by Thanksgiving and have it colored before Christmas, then I send it out via mass e-mail, twitter, facebook message, etc. Might be a bit late this year, but while you all are waiting you can take a gander at my Slutty gingerbread lady from last year.
I'm thinking these drawings are a result of all that subconscious pent-up desire to wear a sexy bee-costume for Halloween each year (</sarcasm>), but ... who knows.
Do you tend to like music in particular genres, or are your tastes all over the place? What are your most and least favorite musical genres?
My favorite genres of music tend to be the ones that I can play on Rock Band, you know, the kind I can paddle away at obsessively with a gaming guitar peripheral.
So I'm shamelessly manipulating today's QOTD to fit what pertains to my current and only interest, Rock Band. This is an entirely legitimate answer however, given that just about every song of any genre becomes awesome when you are performing it in the game. For instance despite my typical disregard for most varieties of hard metal songs by my day to day musical standards, when I'm fiendishly pumping out arpeggios and I can hear the virtual crowd sing along to my music all those standards instantly melt away.
In other words, I've had it for a day, I've been playing it occasionally for over the past few months and I'm obsessed. Plus, my avatar has a shaved head and looks like Tank Girl. I spent $1,000 dollars in gig-money to get that look, and she kicks ass. Kudos to Raf and my singing little sis for the awesome jam session last night!
It's dedication time. What song are you sending out, and who is it dedicated to?
This song is dedicated to no one in particular. I'm just reposting it because I listened to it on the train this morning:
How are you celebrating Halloween today?
Walking around as Princess Mononoke, trying to convince Rudy to be my wolf dog. Hopefully attending the Hellgate London launch party with EA/VICE, featuring Chromeo as their special musical guest! There is alternatively the chance that me and some friends might just cozy up and drinks some beers ^_^. In costume, that is.
What other names did your parents consider for you?
When my parents were deciding on a name for me, my mom's favorite choice was Vanessa while my dad wanted to name me Mercedes after the car he owned at the time. Neither of them approved of the other's favorite, although I think Vanessa may have worked in some parallel .tiff existence. I don't know where Tiffany came inbetween those two, but I believe I was named after a figure skater.
Personally, I don't really like the name Tiffany. It's alright, I suppose, but it makes me think of some lame-o teeny-bopper 80's chick. I think that's partially why I like to be called 'Tiff' (or .tiff) instead.
In 5 words or less, who are you?
Submitted by dejablu503.
...a vassar college alumna.
(Well yes, I am an alumna since a few weeks ago, but the grass walking officially takes place on sunday. Today I took my very last final of college. There are no words. No words. They should have sent a poet.)
What's on your "do before I die" list?
Submitted by Caroline.
- learn how to spin (f-f-f-f-freeeesssssssh)
- become a hip-hoppin' b-girl
- create an animation of some sort
- be able to cook more than 10 full blown, super tasty meals (that don't involve easy mac)
- cut my hair really short (with a potential faux-hawk)
- probably (maybe) get a tattoo
After pumping out that short and only partially ambitious list, it has occured to me that perhaps I should re-assess my life goals. Then again, at my age I don't know if I'm particularly aware of everything there is to do yet. Right now, I can only concentrate on my second semester goals, which are:
- work out at least 3 times a week
- work harder
- play harder
- cook more
- prepare to live on my own
- graduate (eek!)
*phew*! my apologies to the vox community for not posting lately. I transformed into the definition of 'über-lazy' following my vacation to Aussie-land and have been struggling to recover. Expect reports of my holidays/photos of Sydney @ the cusp of 2007 soon!
