(*a sauce of the week is something that I've determined is inherently saucesome ;))
New years eve was long and lamesauce for me sadly. Jet lagged and having failed to plan ahead, I spent the evening sober and towing drunk boys around to college freshman house parties for hours at a time. A half dressed, slutty sophomore stole the bottle of champagne that I had bought for the occassion, and I was drunkedly questioned by several college minors "Aren't you 21? What are you doing here? Why aren't you at a bar!? (ROFL PUKE)". Fortunately, the boys behaved themselves and were grateful for my assistance, which is why I do lub them so.
At the second party we attended a tall ,handsome, drunk shaggy blond hipster type approached me merely two minutes after I walked in the door. He was with some folks that I only sort of knew, and I was sort of surprised at his quick to chat motivation. To celebrate the new year, I avoided the typical fancy club outfit and sported my newly purchased Kid Robot shirt as shown to the left.
HIPSTER: Hey dude. Nice Neons.
What? Nice Neons? What? Could you be any more hip? At first I didn't even realize what the hell he was talking about, but he nodded cooly to my shirt. Once I had come to understand his bro-dawg move, I had to awkwardly adjust my surprise/confusion/temptation to burst out laughing at him to pump out a:
ME: Oh....uh...Thanks! I got it from Kid Robot.
HIPSTER: Oh is that like Giant Robot, its right down from my street. I live in LA.
Anyway. He continued to discuss his 1 degree separation from Paris Hilton and the various celebrity daughters he had hooked up with and by that point I was so exhausted I nodded compliantly to his saavy stories until I saw my exit opportunity. To be fair, I suppose the shirt is a little hip. But to also be fair, they're pastels, not neons.
I bought a new toy today from Kid Robot. I purchased the just released figurine of Noodle from Gorillaz, one of my most favorite cartoon characters ever. She's small and hardcore and kawaii at the same time. It was a great purchase, and I got a sweet bag. We'll call it an early birthday gift to myself. Fair enough, right?
Starting Thursday was the beginning of my weekly trip up to New York City for my internship. While I'm up to my neck in work and really should be spending more time at school home studying my butt off, I have a feeling that traveling to the city will allow me a nice escape
(plus, I can do plenty of work on the train and the subway).I stayed with my boyfriend in his new place in Brooklyn. The apartment started as a large room with concrete floors and only recently did they build walls. There isn't much of anything in it, but its going to be a great place when its all finished. Plus, the roof has an incredible view.
Other than going to my internships and having many exciting adventures (which I will get to at some other point in time), the bf and I tried to go to Kid Robot's Vinyl toy show introducing their new line called Fat Cap. I'm a hard core fan of Kid Robot (it was where I first started to obsessively purchase Vinyl toys) and really wanted to see what a show was like. Unfortunately after waiting in line for 15 minutes, we discovered that since there was an open bar only those above the age of 21 could attend, counting myself out. I was sad, but they have many shows, so hopefully (in exactly 2 months time!) i'll return for another one and get my vinyl toy fill.
The city, however, is plain wonderful. More adventures to come...
