My Dad loves the TV show 24.  He loves it so much that he spends dinner elaborately outlining how the show can incorporate him into the CTU squad.  He loves it so much that he has rewatched each of the seasons at least twice. 

He loves it so much that he has Jack Bauer's cellphone ring as his ringtone.  On his birthday I unfortunately helped him figure out how to upload mp3's to his cellphone, and since then I have heard my Dad's cellphone ring more than I have ever heard it ring in my life.

This constant ringing (or constant 'bwep-bwep. BWEE oooo' for those of you who know what I'm talking about) is not because he has important business partners phoning in for information.  Rather, this ringing is fully due to the fact that my Dad calls himself to hear the ringtone.  Also when his friends are in his present company they will call him so they can hear the ringtone as well. 

This has happened on two ocassions when my friends have been over.  My father will come into the TV room to bid friendly hullo's to everyone. He will then casually walk over to the house telephone, his cellphone strategically placed ever so innocently at the center of the kitchen table, and all of a sudden, the ring will go off.  He'll look for approval from my companions after the ring has sounded a few times, and ocassionally some of them will recognize the reference.  They'll have a good chuckle, and then my dad goes off to listen to it again in the privacy of his office.

Dad. Please. You are not Jack Bauer.  Even Keifer Sutherland is not really Jack Bauer.  Your heterosexual man crush is tainted by the fact that Jack Bauer doesn't even exist.  I'm sorry.

Let's be Lost companions instead.  That's more fun anyway.  And less gunshots in the kneecap.
