I'm pretty sure seeing Diplo on New Years Eve will probably not be anything remotely similar to Matthew Wilder's performance of Break My Stride on VH1. Then again, I will be disappointed if I don't see an attendee or two wearing something sequined/shiny/spandexey like his back up dancers, and I can only hope that I'll say goodbye to 2007 on with the same cheerful high I get after listening to this song.
What's the best gift you received this year?
Runners up: See-Thru mini-Kaiju (from Hamza), Interstella 5555 Figurines (from Chico), Pushpaw and Pupshaw (from ee.en). and The Double Life of Veronique (from Cristian).
Hello Vox blog! Figured you and the friends you've managed to collect over the past year deserve a holiday greeting of some sort or another. Sadly, the annual holiday card did not get made this year ... so in its place I share with you this absurdly cute ornament my siblings and I found in the tree decoration box!
Were your holiday cards store bought, handmade, online, TBD or MIA?
For almost 6 years (I think?) I've been drawing and rendering my holiday card to meet my annual 'Slutty Holiday Anime Girl' milestone. Typically I sketch out the character by Thanksgiving and have it colored before Christmas, then I send it out via mass e-mail, twitter, facebook message, etc. Might be a bit late this year, but while you all are waiting you can take a gander at my Slutty gingerbread lady from last year.
I'm thinking these drawings are a result of all that subconscious pent-up desire to wear a sexy bee-costume for Halloween each year (</sarcasm>), but ... who knows.
It's been a rare and recent exception that I've reveled in music that features a female vocalist. Maybe I've been largely impacted by the age when I began to craft my standards, an era of female cohorts warbling out Alanis Morisette, Spice Girls, and Aqua's Barbie Girl while I sat disoriented and lost in a sea of Big Willie Styles. One way or another, I'll proudly exclaim that my tastes have improved given the gracious recommendations of friends and with that I'm excited to say that The Bird and The Bee, the artists responsible for Polite Dance Song, are excellent and worth picking up.
Here I go again. No thanks to ee.en's referral, Xavier has made up for his lack of speech in the previous video I posted by way of this six minute interview where he lists a variety of top-5's. This includes a listing of his favorite albums, whats necessary for a successful show, and what Xavier wants to say to Kanye West.
I think you all know the rest of the story when it comes to Monsieur de Rosnay, so feel free to wrap yourself up all cozy in the mellifluous tonalities of one helluva sexy french accent while I collect my wits and try to make it through the rest of the work day without swooning myself silly.
