What are you thankful for?
- To be with my wonderful and loving family for the holiday weekend, and having dinner with my Grandparents (my Grandpa is 93 and still cracking jokes!)
- For all of the people in my life who keep me on track when I lose my way
- And, for this Thanksgiving:
Furthermore, I had the chance to have my first drink with my parents, which turned out to be this bottle of wine dated 1985 that my parents have been saving since I was just a one year old. My father was in Washington DC back in 1986 having a business dinner and ended up becoming friendly with the owner and spending the rest of his evening drinking and talking to him. They became so close overnight, that the man went into the back room and gave him a bottle of wine the year I was born.
So Mr. Resturaunt Owner Man, thank you for the bottle of wine, it was delicious, and quite the treat!
This morning at 11 AM, Amazon offered the deal of a lifetime: 1,000 XBOX 360's for $100 each, marked down from $300. My father, brother, and I gathered together at 10:45 AM, assembled 6 computers with the Amazon pages upfront, and started consecutively clicking the reload button on each computer. As the minutes marched forward, reload took longer, stretching out to about 5 minutes at 10:58. My laptop messed up, my brother got the 'Buy this Item' page but Safari failed on him. We lost. But it was a fun try.
Besides, all I wanted an XBOX 360 for was to play Gears of War. Psh. Maybe Halo...Psh.
Anyway, I think Amazon is down at the current moment. Overloadddd!
who certainly know a thing or two about creating awesome animations

While on the topic, I cannot wait for the Wii. I got an opportunity to play it a few days ago and it was definitely the highlight of my week. The Wii is beautiful, simple, clean, and compact, radiating a very ibook-esque aura. You can feel from the moment you pick up the two controllers that you're going to have fun with it. The controls take a bit to adjust to at first, but it was sort of a wonderful encounter to play with something familiar and foreign at the same time. I got a chance to develop a Mii character, play Wii Baseball, and a racing game. I'm not sure when I'm getting it (the one and only Chico revealed that he's getting it for me as a birthday present!), but it happens you can expect I'll have a glazed over game look for at least a solid two weeks or so.
And then there is the PS3. Not looking forward to that at all. I know that there are lines of anxious people camping outside of the Best Buys and Targets, but I'll bet you the majority of them are picking the PS3 up just to auction it off on EBay for a grand or more. If you read my favorite gaming blog Kotaku, its been keeping up with the PS3's launch process a great deal. There are so many sketchy things going on with the PS3 that I can't help but be skeptical about its legitimacy as a gaming platform. Not to mention, it's a freakin' boat of a console. The size alone should be an embarrassment to Sony.
Moral of the Story: Woo for Wii and Boo for PS3
Dear Best Friend,
Thank you for giving me Pure Moods as a birthday gift today, 20 minutes ago. I have wanted this since I was in 6th grade. It couldn't have arrived at a better time (oh, and thanks Onionania for 'paying for it'? or at least playing guitar hero with me, that was great too).
Questions and concerns:
1. Dear East Coast: why does it get so dark around 4:00 in the afternoon? It's really unfair.
2. Dear Academics: why do you have to assign 10 page research papers? It's really a stressful assignment.
3. Dear Coffee & Ramen Noodles: can you help me write these last four pages before I go insane? kthx!
So as it turns out, the reason why I've been playing so many video games and spotting celebrities from time to time is because of my most hip gaming internship at MTV. That's right, believe it or not MTV has a gaming department that focuses on gaming trailers, reviews, and culture. In addition, they produce an online show called 'The G-Hole' which features gaming goodies and behind the scenes interviews with gaming developers, along with an occasional celebrity trying to game it out (aka Scissor Sisters playing guitar hero and the like). Blair Herter (who some of you may recognize as the host of some MTV aftershows) and Sir G (the coolest gamer on MTV's 8th floor) host the show along its way.
This week is gamers week on MTV and on Wednesday night at 8 PM the G-Hole is broadcasting their very first episode On-Air. Since I've been an interned helper throughout the course of developing this show, I have to give my props out to it. Gamers, and anyone else who is interested, please check it out! The more viewers they can get, the better chances the G-Hole has of making it to the bigger on-air screen (aka, so MTV isn't just about Parental Control and adolescent make out dates). The episode itself has some fun material, including features on upcoming Wii games, user made content, and a segment about arcades in Japan.
Unfortunately, there will be no hidden shots of .tiff. in the footage (only of my intern counterpart who can be seen in several segments of the episode), but if you look closely at the Opera man singing about what he'd do for a PS3, you can observe the cape that was lovingly picked up by yours truly. Woo! Go me! The cape I bought from a store showed up on the tv!
