I had seen these little illustrations around the web before, and
wondered how people got their own custom pixel portraits. I
finally thought to goolge it (duh.)
and found the site where you can make these great little icons!
You can choose from a myriad of options for 16 different
characteristics (hair, face shape, accessory), and adjust them to your
pleasing. Here are the two I made (before I told myself I needed to try and sleep)
You can access the pixel portrait site here! Go nuts.
(PS This would make an awfully fun QOTD...or...fun thing on the internet to do...of the day)
Hands down, I will never get tired of playing Bust-a-Move. Never. Back in the day, Q-zar (a laser tag joint in Redwood City) was the hot spot for all middle school birthday parties. In the arcade section they had a HUGE bust-a-move display. After I bought it, my brother and I used to spend hours competing at each other back and forth. I ended up bringing it to college my freshman year, and endless hours of procrastination ensued. Besides, can you really say no to an addictive game with cute little monsters?
When I go to an arcade now, I'm almost always with my boyfriend and we usually play a dual-shooting game like House of the Dead or Time Crisis (preferably the first of the two, because Chico likes zombies). At one point, of course, I had a DDR thing...but...thats finished.
In-house games my favorites include the original Super Smash Brothers, Super Mario, and Final Fantasy VII, of course. Ocassionally, my siblings and I bust out Samba de Amigo or Drum Master. We're planning on getting Guitar Hero soon. Hardcore.
Since I've been a blonde, people have thought I resembled Julia
Stiles, Mandy Moore, Jewel, Kate Hudson and Jessica Alba. Go figure...
* Today I finally went to that myheritage site that everyone was using and did the 'face recognition'
dealie. None of the persons mentioned above turned up in these
results, however according to the particular photo I had chosen I
resembled:
- Cameron Diaz (what?)
- Jamie Lynn Spears (excuse me?)
- Twiggy (okay, I dig. but I still don't get it.)
- Tara Reid (oh, its the blonde thing, isn't it)
- Hilary Duff (*hits forehead*)
- Gwyneth Paltrow (sure sure)
- Emma Watson (right right)
- Hollie Marie Combs (who I actually met in person, and no we didn't look alike)
- Molly Ringwald (not at all, got anything better?)
- AND with the highest correlation of 71%, Monica Lewinski (now I'm downright embarrassed.)
On a second try with a smiling photo (I wasn't showing any teeth in the one before) it turned out again that I look like Cameron Diaz and Jamie Lynn Spears.
If you don't mind, I'm going conduct an exorcism now to get the Monica Lewinski-look cooties out of me.
I am in New York City. It is cloudy, rainy, and muggy. I am hanging out with friends and going to a release party (for something I worked on last summer) on monday. More on this later. Now I'm listening to my own personal dj spin me songs, and I'm contemplating what adventures I'll have tonight.
Hoo-rah!
Vox Rox.
I got in the car to drive home today and heard this song. The
beat was catchy, but as soon as I started to really listen, my stomach
started to turn.
This mp3 is uncensored and offensive...so...be warned. You might also feel like you need to vom, just a little.
In case you aren't interested in hearing the song out, here is a
basic summary. Grafh talks about getting the 'jumpoff' from his
MySpace page. This involves exchanging 'texts' with some woman
that he later has sex with. Then he says 'boing' a couple of times, and
ends the song by giving out his MySpace address. That's it.
Maybe later I'll get back to this and talk about what I think this song is about. But, for now, I'm speechless.
Since the Muni was free yesterday, Debbie invited me to come with her to China Town. That woman is a machine. She was sweet enough to pick up a few lunches for other people in the office, but she only has about 20 minutes to run around China Town to do it. And man, she is fast on her feet. She showed me the best buses to take and where to get off, and then let me tag along to all of the best bakeries and restaurants in China Town.
I have been to China Town only a few times in my life. When I was really little, I would go with my Chinese Grandparents and they would always treat me to custards, steamed buns, and dragon kites. I went a few times in high school when we had Chinese exchange students visiting as well (thinking back on it, I wonder if they were even interested in China Town...I mean, they lived in china...) While there are obviously extreme differences, walking down the crowded streets and passing by all of the bustling markets made me feel like I was in China again. It was really nice, and I think I'll probably take a few more trips there for lunch while I'm working up here.
Also, the food there is a steal! I'm a huge fan of steamed buns, yesterday I got three for $1.50, each bigger than my fist. This morning Debbie told me that she had ordered some pork steam buns, and naturally I rushed to indulge. Thats a lot of steamed buns in a matter of three days. I'm enjoying it, but I don't want to over-bun myself. Alternatively, perhaps if I eat enough I'll become a kung-fu master like Stephen Chow (in Shaolin Soccer he would eat steamed buns in a single bite). Yeah, thats the ticket.
My signature recipe for when I have guests over is a delightfuly filling assimilation of a mouthwatering artificial cheese sauce over tender white noodles. Some claim that it tastes a lot like Easy Mac, but a slight alteration in the preparation proccess makes a world of a difference in the overall experience.
- Combine Macaroni and 1/2 cup of water into a microwavable bowl (the original recipe calls for 2/3. Fools. That is way too much water.)
- Microwave on high for 4 Minutes until macaroni is tender.
- Add cheese mix and stir well until sauce is fully distributed.
- Find a spoon or fork or spork. Enjoy.
If you are still famished after a single bowl. follow with another bowl or some ramen noodles.
Moral of the story, I'm still in college and havn't had access to anything other than crappy cafeteria food at my school. Sure, that doesn't necessarily provide the best excuse for not knowing how to cook, but presently I havn't had the time to invest in learning. On the flip side I can make a mean bowl of Easy Mac and a really sweet tasting Funfetti Cake, and I'm particularly good at making chocolate chip pancakes in the shapes of turtles, bears, and smiley faces.
For the first time I will be living in a house with a kitchen for my Senior year. Hopefully in a few months I'll have something a little more worthwhile to post. Heh.
