Circa 1991, this Japanese Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past commercial may just surpass whatever managed to overtake me with the Pikachu video. Or maybe I'm just too confused at whats going on to know what to think. I also just found an androgynous avatar image for posting on gaming blogs. Score!

Edit: Anil made a good point. The video is much more Janet Jackson's Rhythm Nation than Thriller

Child's Play Funde Razor recently held a charity auction for a custom made Guitar Hero controller (as shown here) crafted by Joel Johnsn. The beautiful mod finally sold for $1,026, bringing the charity's monitary success up to three times more than the previous year. The auctioned guitar, a red and black model with flames, was one of three custom made guitars featured in the event (the other two were raffled off earlier).
All I can say is, it's mad sweet. Someone is going to be one happy camper for the holidays.
After waking up unintentionally at 6 AM yesterday, I was finally able to finish all of my work by about 9. (*joy*) I zipped my papers up, sent them to my professor, took a shower and made quick plans to head out and go christmas shopping. Seeing as I had been locked up in my room for the past three days with academic journals and Text Edit as my only compadres, I expected that I would steer clear of all things school related.
But to my surprise, I had a sudden jolt of energy to steer over to my local library and grapple some books to read over my holiday in preparation of my thesis projects. Ever since last summer when I discovered I didn't have many books to display in my Vox, going to the library and digging up books to read has become a new thrill for me. My favorite sections of course are the Sociology/Media Studies shelves and some of the fiction. This time, in search for pieces about digital identity, I came up with these books:
- Cyberethics
- Nobrow : The Culture of Marketing - The Marketing of Culture
- High Tech High Touch
- New Essays on New Media
- The Search for Being : Essays from Kierkegaard to Satre on the Problem of Existence
- The Philisophical Works of Descartes (Book 1)
- Derrida in 90 minutes
- Foucault in 90 minutes
- The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay
Meanwhile, I'm pumped for books. I feel all booky, and it feels good :).
New music post! Thanks to Danielle, Chico's housemate, I've come across a most delightful band named Hot Chip. Hot Chip has a lovely electronic tinkering sound to it. Recently their song Over and Over was featured in a Microsoft Zune commercial. While the Zune is pointless, the song is great. So is the music video. It's a must watch:
