thanks.for.giving!
What are you thankful for?
- To be with my wonderful and loving family for the holiday weekend, and having dinner with my Grandparents (my Grandpa is 93 and still cracking jokes!)
- For all of the people in my life who keep me on track when I lose my way
- And, for this Thanksgiving:
I cannot recall the last time I
consumed so many fresh vegetables and fruits. My wonderful Mom spent
all day putting together a really delicious meal including a fresh
spinach salad with apples and cranberries, cooked carrots in an orange
sauce, roasted red potatoes, baked apples with dates and raisins, and
of course pumpkin pie. It's always a treat to get home cooking when
you're just a college kid making meals out of ramen and hot pockets
(no, I'm healthier than that really...I eat some hummu
s and chicken
noodle soup sometimes)
Furthermore, I had the chance to have my first drink with my parents, which turned out to be this bottle of wine dated 1985 that my parents have been saving since I was just a one year old. My father was in Washington DC back in 1986 having a business dinner and ended up becoming friendly with the owner and spending the rest of his evening drinking and talking to him. They became so close overnight, that the man went into the back room and gave him a bottle of wine the year I was born.
So Mr. Resturaunt Owner Man, thank you for the bottle of wine, it was delicious, and quite the treat!
