What is the last gadget you purchased? Why did you have to have it?

I purchased the iPhone and converted from my Treo. The iPhone is amazing and is a gadget that will forever change the mobile experience. I haven't played with all of the apps yet, so any app recommendations would be appreciated. One app that my brother uses is Shazam, where you can have your iPhone listen to the music being played on the radio (or on the background) and it will identify the song & provide a click to purchase. So cool. The keyboard isn't great and slows down your email productivity, but the positives completely outweigh the negatives. I am still learning new reasons to love it!
yeah, so this morning sucked...but it's 12:06 now, so it's all over!

CBS 5 Poll: Young Voters Lead Prop 8 Support Shift
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS 5) ― A new CBS 5 poll finds that California's Proposition 8 has picked up support in the wake of a television ad campaign that features footage of San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom proclaiming same-sex marriage is here to stay "whether you like it or not."
The poll conducted for CBS 5 by SurveyUSA indicates that support for the measure to ban gay marriage has grown among voters in the state over an eleven day period — most especially among young voters.
According to the poll, likely California voters overall now favor passage of Proposition 8 by a five-point margin, 47 percent to 42 percent. Ironically, a CBS 5 poll eleven days prior found a five-point margin in favor of the measure's opponents.
The only demographic group to significantly change their views during this period were younger voters — considered the hardest to poll and the most unpredictable voters — who now support the measure after previously opposing it.
...
Not surprisingly, support for a gay marriage ban was strongest among those who considered themselves conservatives and identified themselves as regular churchgoers. Opposition was strongest amongst liberals and those who are less religious.
This is unfuckingbelievable. It's 2008 for crying out loud. THIS IS CALIFORNIA.
First of all, if you're conservative, a regular churchgoer, AND opposed to gay marriage, what on earth are you doing in California in the first place? You guys get Utah, and all the southern states. Those are yours. We don't go live there, and you shouldn't be living here. How would you like it if we all moved to Arkansas and voted for a minimum I.Q. or number of chromosomes required before you can procreate? Wouldn't sit well, would it?
Second, if this thing passes, we should pull this state apart. Burn the motherfucker down, Pookie. If the last bastion of common fucking sense and progressive politics in this fucking country can't allow gay marriage for more than a few months, than what good is it? I'm not here because I like smog and snotty Botox bitches who are addicted to nine dollar cups of coffee. I'm here because most of the other states make me so mad that I want to throw up constantly. You really can't get much done when you're in a constant state of vomit.
Don't be such a bunch of assholes, California.
Haven't cooked much with cabbage. I keep hearing that its pretty good for us humans. Sliced it thin and pan sauteed it with a little truffle-infused olive oil and seasoned it with balsalmic vinegar and green onions. (Inspired by Simply Recipes) Mashed up some potatoes with a little left over buttermilk. Going back for seconds...
I thought today was going to be the day the fog rolled in for the winter - there was snow in the mountains this weekend and, this morning, talk of actually turning the underfloor heating. Not for me - I embrace a Opus Dei style monastic existence in which I prefer my bedroom to be freezing cold. I like having the covers stolen from me and prefer a bed mate with freezing cold feet.
Yes, I'm a little weird. Thank you for noticing.
It's a pity "Crystal" by New Order wasn't done in the 90s because that's what stuck in my head at the moment and I really like the video.
But it's not, and so you get "Been Caught Stealing" by Janes Addiction instead
which has had one of those bursts of repopularity when it was featured in the mega-successful hooker bashing, crime-em-up fest "GTA3 - San Andreas" but which I doubt has inspired any of today's teens to go listen to earlier JA or Porno for Pyros.
Now, I have to confess that I actually wanted to do "Jane Says" instead but was mildly shocked to realise that it was first released in '87 on "Jane's Addiction", albeit in live form the first studio version was in '88s "Nothing's Shocking" but this loophole version was from '97's "Kettle Whistle"
Fun Fact For Fans #1: The 'Jane' of both Says and Addiction is Jane Bainter, lead singer Perry Farrel's ex-housemate and self described "white collar junkie"
